The color of mold is determined largely by the food it’s consuming- there’s no such thing as the dreaded “black mold”. In fact, less than 5% of the over 1.5 million identified species of mold are toxigenic or pathogenic. Most molds are allergenic, however, and can cause allergic reactions.
